It's not often I see a new show that actually captures my interest for more than a few minutes before I want to continue surfing. Being in the United States and, for the most part, subjected to the asinine broadcasting choices over here there isn't a whole lot of intelligent choices for someone like me to choose from.
Enter the BBC and all the different shows that are available from them. The rest of my house hold, which includes
cat_77 and our sons, love Merlin and all of us watch Doctor Who. I've always watch Mystery on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service, kind of a mini-BBC4). Now that I've set up the Apple TV and linked everything up to the home server we can watch all the other downloads offerings that come out of the BBC.
One such show
cat_77 and I watched last night was Sherlock. Holy deerstalkers! I've never seen nor read a Sherlock Holmes spin off I haven't at the very least found amusing yet, so take that for what you will. I will say however that my eyes hardly strayed from the screen and I don't believe we ever paused the program once. Both of us being some form of AD(H/D) this was quite a feat.
It was quick (save for the beginning where it did drag a bit working up though the murders), it was intelligent, the banter between the characters (even the minor ones) was great, even though it was an AU and modern day you knew what the outlay was if you've read/watched any of the genre before. This is definitely going on my weekly watch list. The boys will be introduced later tonight. Much like Jerry Falwell, I too believe in converts.
