Yet another catchup story. I had originally wrote one for each episode, so I apologize that they are all being posted now.
Title: Tag Backs
Author:
wolfie74
Fandom: Rizzoli & Isles
Characters: Jane Rizzoli, Maura Isles
Rating: PG
Word Count : 287
Summary: To Jane’s viewpoint it wasn’t just about “Rich versus Poor”. It was more about the world versus Jane Rizzoli.
Episode Outtake: Money for Nothing
Maura Isles was from a life of privilege. She wasn't ashamed of it, nor did she particularly hold herself in higher regard than those who were not.
It was because of this that Maura failed to understand why Jane Rizzoli would take such offense to her association with the Fairfields. Not until Korsak pointed out that to Jane’s viewpoint it wasn’t just about “Rich versus Poor”. It was more about the world versus Jane Rizzoli.
That she had been on what Jane considered as the other side when they went to interview the Fairfields had been a sharp blow to Maura. It was that realization that had made the small coroner use her personal associations to uncover evidence for Jane.
Now, with Garret arrested for his half brother’s murder and the requisite trip for their after case drinks she found herself following Jane up the steps to the detective’s apartment. As Jane used her key in the lock, there was something about the set of her shoulders that gave Maura cause for concern.
As Jane moved stiffly into the apartment Maura could see that she was hurting. The buckles of the shoulder holster for her gun must have been bothering her quite a lot. As the other woman stood up from greeting her dog Maura reached over to ease the suit jacket off of the other woman’s shoulders.
Brown eyes regarded her with a look of confusion. Maura knew that her friend was not exactly one to accept help from others. This though, this she could help her with.
Starting a deep kneading of the knotted muscles of the tall woman’s back Maura declared, “I’ve got your back Jane.”
“Again?” The detective asked after a pause.
“Always.”
