So, I'm planing on rebuilding (read ground up, down and dirty, my hair shall fall out in large clumps as I tare it from my head) our home server. I've been looking into both the Snow Leopard server software and Ubuntu 9.1 server software alternatively.
We dont have any mac's on our home network at the moment (made up of Ubuntu and WinXP machines). I havent played with Mac software for quite some time so I'm slightly leary about using it. That said, I also have never built a Linux system from the ground up either and our current system is so outdated it's beyond laughable.
So, I go back and forth on what to do and how to do it. I'd love an all-in-one that is beyond easy to maintain but I want to make sure there's as close to 100% compatibility with our current boxes as possible. Also, I want security up the ying-yang which is the primary reason for rebuilding everything from scratch to begin with.
Anyone out there with any knowledge of the above two server os's, I would REALLY appreciate some reviews of how it went/goes and what your home setup looks like.
Thanks, me :)
