There's a show, little known in the states, from the BBC that aired in the early 90's. I've caught it a few times on PBS over the year. It's called Mulberry, and it's one of the sweetest shows ever to air on BBC.
There's hummor, there's kindness, there's death, there's Greek Mythology. There's some awsome acting by well known actors (Karl Howman, Geraldine McEwen, Tony Selby, Lill Roughly, Mary Healy, John Bennet). Unfortunatly, there was never a clear resolution to the story but the episodes of the two seasons (short seasons, this is the BBC you know) are all very entertaining to watch.
